2013 Watch Reviews: Earlier we had a look back at some of our favourite whisky/whiskey reviews of 2013. Now, we are going to reminisce about some of favourite watch reviews of 2013. It has been quite an interesting year in the world of horology. Again, huge thanks to all of our followers and your support.
1. A.Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase: Definitely one of our favourite moon phase timepieces we’ve reviewed this year. With it’s stunning design, sophisticated movement and 100 year plus of accuracy – how could you not love this Grand Lange 1! Read The Full Post
2. Urwerk UR-210 RG: Nicknamed the “Maltese Falcon” because of the shape of the minutes hand. The most intriguing fact about this timepiece is that it has a mechanism (“winding efficiency indicator”) that tells you if you’re being active enough – which sounded rather controversial? We had a look and uncovered the reason for this interesting function. Read the Full Post
3. Arnold & Son Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Escapement (UTTE): The UTTE is arguably the world’s thinnest Tourbillon currently in production today and features a one-minute flying Tourbillon which measures 32mm in diameter, a thickness of 2.97 mm and a tourbillon cage which is 14mm in diameter. For this reason alone, it was one of our favourite timepieces we reviewed this year and we even managed to get a one week hands-on with it too. Read the Full Post
4. Linde Werdelin Oktopus Moon Tattoo: The Oktopus Moon Tattoo is Linde Werdelin’s most prestigious piece to date and features the equivalent of what is known in the tattoo world as a sleeve. The Oktopus Moon got all inked up! And for this reason it made our favourites list. It is a super cool version of the Oktopus Moon which has been painstakingly engraved with the cephalopod and it’s surroundings. Read the Full Post
5. Rolex Daytona Platinum 116506: The Daytona is probably one of the most sacred watches amongst Rolex collectors, only topped by the Submariner. This example was only echoed by this post being the second most popular article we have written this year, which leaves little or no wonder to what the first is? This year at Basel World there were a lot of expectations of the new Daytona. However, what Rolex did was create a timepiece in the new Daytona that will take the Daytona design to the next level and we hope to see something new in 2014. Read the Full Post
6. Lemania British Navy Issued Mono-pusher Chronograph: Here at Bexsonn.com we do love a vintage timepiece. So, it was just awesome when we came across these vintage military issued mono-pusher Lemania’s. 7. Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre à Chronographe: Jaeger-LeCoultre is a true watch manufacture of timepieces and produces some of the world’s most complicated wristwatches. This Duomètre is testament to that statement and for this reason we just loved it. Also, it is probably the most complicated timepiece we’ve managed to get our hands-on this year for a review… Read the Full Post
8. MB&F Legacy Machine N°2: Now, this was probably one of the most elegant haute horlogerie timepieces we managed to get our hands on this year. We remember reading just how domed the crystal was on this baby and didn’t pass our full judgement on it until we’d managed to get our hands on it; which in the end was a good idea as pictures just don’t do this timepiece justice, regardless of how good they were. 9. Cartier Tank MC: This new Cartier Tank MC is, in our opinion absolutely gorgeous. Cartier produced an in-house calibre for the iconic Tank. Equipped with Cartier’s work horse movement, the 1904 MC-PS; housed in the case which features a date window and a seconds sub-dial indicator at 6 o’clock. The dial still has the classic Cartier look and feel to it, with a guilloché centre and sword hands. Just brilliant! Read the Full Post
10. Rolex Submariner 14060M: Remember we mentioned a few paragraphs up how the Daytona was the second highest read article of 2013 and how you wouldn’t need to think too hard about which one was first..? Well, this is the one and it’s actually one of my personal timepieces. Take a look at the Full Post
