TITAN BLACK Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore : Metal Gear Solid – A couple of weeks ago, I requested in an interview with the Titan Black Co-Founder to do a post on this personalised timepiece. For many reasons I found this customised AP ROOF interesting but the main fact that it was designed with one of my all time favourite games in mind, was just too cool to be true!
Speaking to the guys over at Titan Black I’ve been told some of the secrets behind its design. This timepiece was made for a straight-laced Kazakhstan lawyer, whose only vice in life was computer gaming and apparently he was the number 1 Metal Gear Solid player in the world. Now, this was quite a shock as I always considered myself to be the numero uno MGS player (I can dream). Kidding aside – the fact that someone who has such a great passion for gaming and watches wanted a custom timepiece of this calibre is awesome. Knowing that his best bet of this being made possible was Titan Black, is testament to their alacrity to meet their customers design needs.
I have been told by Titan Black that this particular piece went through a few processes. A design brief was prepared, which then had to be approved. The engraving work was carried out on the case and strap buckle. It was then disassembled for the meticulous design work on the dial to be done; the DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) coating was then applied. After these important processes were completed, it was re-assembled and delivered to one happy MGS fanatic!
This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore : MGS is Limited to 1, naturally. So, if you ever come across this piece in your daily life – that is quite special. Dare I say it but I think Hideo Kojima himself would be quite proud of this Metal Gear Solid inspired timepiece…..
