Talisker 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch – The Talisker distillery is based in Carbost, Scotland on the Isle of Skye, founded in 1830 but is now owned by the Diageo Group. This young whisky is somewhat surprising and had me going back for more. On the nose you’ll smell sweet honey notes, with vanilla and spices – you’ll also be able to smell hints of a floral nature and almonds. Down the hatch those strong spices and sweetness will be confirmed with a slight milky texture – you’ll also get a peaty/oaky flavour developing, with hints of a nuttiness and surprisingly liquorice taste. The finish is quite smooth and warming with a very modest kick – you also may feel a very slight tingle on the tongue.
In summary, a very enjoyable scotch whisky that will be best appreciated on its on own or with a very small amount of water to allow the flavours to breathe. Be careful though, as you could easily forget how many drams you’ve had of this charming, flavourful whisky!
