Glen Deveron 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch – This 10yo Glen Deveron scotch from the Highland region of Banff, was a little bit of a shocker for me. I first tasted it on a trip to Edinburgh and it undeniably left a lasting impression on me! On the nose you’ll be able to smell the sweet stickiness of toffee, with hints of cinnamon, vanilla and beautiful malty notes. On the palate those flavours of toffee, cinnamon and vanilla will be confirmed, followed by a light taste of raisins – with a velvety creamy texture. The finish is very, surprisingly , smooth – with a very little alcohol kick.
The verdict: As said in my first statement above, I was completely shocked with this very characteristic scotch. It is easy to get carried away with this very young 10yo whisky, it’s just such a joy to drink. As with all single malt scotches – this is best enjoyed straight, or with a very small amount of mineral water to allow the flavours to breathe. Oh, and one or two sea salt kettle chips….
