Cadenhead’s Teaninch 19 Year Old Single Malt Scotch – This cask strength Highland 19yo whisky is very flavourful and surprising. On the nose you’ll smell apple, raisin and grape notes, with cinnamon spices – you’ll also be able to smell hints of violets. On the palate, those cinnamon spices and fruitful flavours will be confirmed with a buttery and creamy texture – you’ll also get that oaky flavour developing, with hints of a floral nature creeping in (which would explain the violets). The finish is quite smooth and warming almost like a butter/fudge flavour with a very slight tingle confirming those Highland minerals.
In summary – a very, very enjoyable scotch whisky that will be best appreciated on its own or with a very small amount of water to allow the flavours to breathe as always. Definitely one of my favourite 19yo Cadenhead’s Scotches and I could easily see myself knocking back dram after dram while Netflixing!
