Cadenhead’s Caperdonich 16 Year Old Single Malt Scotch – Ahhhh, the Caperdonich – pretty much the only thing reverberating in my head when I think of this scotch! This cask strength 16yo whisky is sublime. On the nose you’ll smell crisp red apples, dates and raisin notes, with Demerara and honey – you’ll also be able to smell hints of peaches. On the palate, it is very sweet – those raisin, dates and peachy flavours will be confirmed with a beautiful coconut milky texture – you’ll also get a slight oaky flavour developing, with hints of marzipan. The finish is quite smooth and warming, it almost tastes like Baileys….?
In summary – I was blown away by the flavours of this whisky and as always it will be best appreciated on its own or with a very small amount of water to allow the flavours to breathe. Definitely my favourite 16yo Cadenhead’s Scotches and you could easily enjoy this flavourful whisky with a nice mild Cigar – i.e. a Davidoff 2000 or 3000.
