Cadenhead’s Bruichladdich 19 Year Old Single Malt Scotch – Hmmm….? This cask strength 19yo whisky is very, um, interesting! On the nose you’ll get a very intense peaty aroma with hints of a floral, fresh like cut grass, nature and some medicinal notes coming through. On the palate, it is lightly sweet – with a beautiful creamy texture. There is a very nice taste of sherry trifle and custard, which came as a great yet delightful surprise. The finish is very smooth, with a very small tingle.
In summary – a shockingly interesting Scotch, full of curious notes, that will be best appreciated on its own or with a very small amount of water to allow the flavours to breathe as always. This was a bit of a weird one for me, as the smell totally throw me off but on the palate it was a quite a joy!
