This 25 year old Speyside scotch has some intriguing notes?! On the nose: you’ll get some meaty/earthy notes with which then peter out and allow juicier notes to emerge – releasing some pineapples and prunes. On the palate: it is surprisingly sweet and chewy, with hints of lavender, aniseed, coffee beans and cinnamon flavours. The finish: is very smooth, with some autumnal fruits and soft spices.
The verdict: Cadenhead’s Benrinnes 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch was a bit of a strange one for me at first, I wasn’t expecting the notes to blossom so nicely. As with all single malt scotches – this is best enjoyed straight, or with a very small amount of mineral water to allow the flavours to breathe.
Cadenhead’s Benrinnes 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky can only be purchased from the Cadenhead’s whisky shop on Chiltern Street or on their online website for approx £95
