Cadenhead’s Aberfeldy 16 Year Old Single Malt Scotch: This Highland, ex-Chateau Lafitte cask, Scotch is o’so tasty! On the nose you’ll get some Orange, dried fruits, almonds and honey. Some hay notes emerge along with prunes. On the palate those sweet honey and almond notes will be confirmed – followed by lots of fruits, syrup, Blackcurrant’s, Strawberries giving it a very thick, chewy and creamy texture. The finish is slightly grassy before some sweet lingering toffee apples mixed with raspberry syrup and very moderate alcohol burn.
The verdict: This 16-year-old Highland Scotch is very flavourful and has tonnes of character. As with all single malt scotches – this is best enjoyed straight, or with a very small amount of mineral water to allow the flavours to breathe. There are some very exciting things going on with the Cadenhead’s Scotch Whisky range right now and there are many more tasting notes to come!
